Moreland has invited anyone in the Baker West Neighborhood to attend this meeting!
Catch up with neighbors and hear community news at the Moreland West Neighborhood Association meeting on Thursday, March 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Moreland Community Center, located at 1850 Fallbrook Ave. Social time at 6:20 p.m. (See Zoom link below.) We’ll meet our new SJ Council representative, Vice Mayor Rosemary Kamei, and staff, and discuss:
- FY 23-24 budget priorities for the City of San Jose
- Recently proposed changes to the El Paseo Signature Project and its parks obligation for 2,300 new residents
- The status of the Costco Warehouse proposal
- The need for coordinated, multi-jurisdictional planning in the Westgate area
- Other issues of resident concern
Linden Skjeie, with SJ Environmental Services, will then present on the City’s garbage and recycling services and how to “Recycle Right”. When dirty recyclables and non-recyclables are put in recycling carts, they can contaminate clean recyclables so much that the truckload can end up in the landfill. This can reduce our overall sustainability and impact our garbage rates. Come learn what you need to do to ensure recyclables can be turned into new products. Food waste and composting will also be covered. You’re welcome to bring any items about which you have disposal questions. Local police officers have also been invited to join us.
