San Jose’s Urban Village Plans establish new and revised land uses and are essential to ensuring that the City plans thoughtfully for future growth. Initial community meetings were held last December. These are the follow up meetings.
High density, high rise buildings are coming to the Saratoga Ave/Westgate area. This is the community’s chance to emphasize the importance of adequate parking, parks & open space, traffic management, bicycle & pedestrian safety, transit options, garbage cans & pet waste stations, public art, mixed-income housing, affordable ownership opportunities, neighborhood-serving retail, and other issues. Share concerns and specific ideas.
Councilmember Rosemary Kamei has told residents there will be an opportunity to help name our Urban Village. (“Saratoga Urban Village” is short, but inaccurate and confusing, since it’s located in San Jose.) “Saratoga Ave/Westgate Urban Village” makes sense. Bring your suggestions!
The City is in the process of establishing a new Urban Village at the area around the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road, and going up Saratoga Avenue to I-280. The next round of community meetings are coming up in June. As with the last round of community meetings, one meeting will be in-person in the planning area, and the other will occur over Zoom
