As you may know, my office previously received messages from concerned constituents regarding the Saratoga Avenue Traffic Safety Project last year. Although this is a city street and project, my office conducted a survey so I can get a better understanding of where constituents stood on this subject. The results of this survey were then sent to Councilmember Rosemary Kamei and the Department of Transportation for their review. Councilmember Kamei responded to this survey by thanking the respondents and by stating that the San Jose Department of Transportation was studying the effectiveness of the changes that were made on Saratoga Avenue. I think it is very important that community feedback on the changes is taken into account.
To try and best reflect these thoughts or concerns to the Department, my office will be organizing a community meeting alongside Councilmember Kamei to hear specific feedback on the changes which can be directed to DOT for completing their study of the changes. Due to limited time for each speaker, I recommend that people come with specific support or criticism of the changes which San Jose DOT is able to act on in the future. This way, the meeting can be productive in creating the changes people hope to see for Saratoga Avenue. Here are the details for the event:
