This year the requests are for new white socks and new beanies. Also needed are jackets, coats, sweatshirts, sweatpants and vests. They do not have to be new, just clean. No hygiene kits are needed this year.
Fall has arrived and it is time to plan ahead for our Annual Warm Winter Clothing Drive. This annual event has been a very successful drive for many, many years. Again, we will be supporting Downtown Streets Team. This is a non-profit organization committed to helping individuals with a path out of homelessness. They receive access to case management, system navigation and employment services while engaging in community beautification and clean up projects.
Also, if you have leftover Halloween candy, it can also be donated to Downtown Streets Team. It will be sorted and used for Holiday gift baggies for the Team members. The candy can be placed in the green and red bin along with any clothing donations on my porch (2041 Elmgrove Lane) beginning Nov. 1st through Jan. 4th.
If you are unable to bring your donations, I will be happy to pick them up. Just call me at 408 379-9773. With your generosity we can continue to make this event successful.
Thank you, Charleen Marfil (char@bakerwest.org)
